Ann Shirley Carter, 36, was born to Eternal Life unexpectedly on Friday, September 11, 1998.
She was born in Racine on August 21, 1962, to Alfred and Nellie Carter.She leaves to cherish five beautiful children, Christopher Rowsey (newborn), John Rockette Jr., and Sharonda Shaw, all of St. Paul, Minn., Mayetta Thomas, and Shaneka Walker of Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Vontravian, Nakyah, and Mark, all of Milwaukee; her parents, Nellie and George Shaw of Milwaukee and Alfred Carter of Racine; three sisters, Phyllis Carter of Milwaukee, Sharon Martin of St. Paul, Minn., and Landra Carter of Racine; two brothers, Robert (Shaunda) Carter and Jimmy (Kathy) Carter, both of Racine; four step-sister, Yolanda, Valeria, and Gail Shaw, all of Milwaukee, and Rhonda Ellis of Racine; maternal grandmother, MaeBell Carter-Johnson; best friend, Nadolynn Fergerson; two Godchildren, Montell Jones and Danielle Townsend; and one special friend, Darenill Rowsey. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Peter (Emma) Judon; and paternal grandfather, Isaac Carter.
Funeral services will be held at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Avenue, on Friday, September 18, 1998, at 12 noon. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. Memorials to the children have been suggested.
