June 24, 1962  -  June 23, 2019

The realness of what happened is still settling in for those of you that were close to Dan.  On Saturday June 23, 2018 he took his life.

There are many questions, no answers and nothing makes sense to us.

Daniel and I got married 2 weeks ago, after knowing each other for about 2 years.  He was the love of my life.  We bought our first home together and his first time buying a house, the previous week.  He was expecting two more grandkids next month.  At 55 years and 364 days old, he finally had everything he ever wanted in life: love, happiness and acceptance.

For those of you who knew him, either in his past or in his present you know he wore his heart on his sleeve.  He was kind, loving, genuine, caring, brave, adventurous, fun to be around, talented in so many ways, and the hardest working man I’ve ever met.

He was also extremely smart.  For those that don’t know, after a successful career as a chef he decided to start over in life and go back to school.  He nailed it.  Afte3r barely graduating high school in his younger years, he graduated with honors with a degree in Physics and a minor in Geology at 45.

He could also be very private, protective, and oh so opinionated when it came to debating topics like politics, religion, police, and our current president.

For those of us who showed him unconditional love, there was no better man to have in your life which is why these last few days have been so difficult for all of us.

If you were lucky enough to know Daniel-really know him- I’m sorry for your loss too.

Jennifer Petersen, Daniel’s beautiful daughter, helped with this notification.  I am heartbroken, lost and in shock. May he rest in peace.  Dan’s loving wife, Kimberley Lewis police.
