In Memory

Steve Seitz

Steve Seitz

WATERFORD - Steven J. Seitz, 56, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, May 26, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Racine on March 16, 1962, son of Donald and Joan (nee: DeGroot) Seitz. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Michelle Lynn Lutkus, on September 12, 1987. Steve graduated from J.I. Case High School in 1980, where he was a member of both varsity wrestling and baseball teams. He received his Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from Gateway Technical College and enjoyed a rewarding career at Kapur and Associates Engineering Firm in Burlington. Steve had a love for baseball throughout his life and coached youth baseball for Racine Erickson’s for many years. Steve was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants and the Green Bay Packers. Born on the day before St. Patrick’s Day, Steve frequently celebrated his birthday with an Irish twist, even though he was not Irish. He was an avid music enthusiast with an immense music library, which he shared with family and friends. In earlier years, he was the “light man” for the local band ‘Wally Cleaver,’ in which his brother and friends played. Steve was a meticulous planner and craftsman. His fabulous rec room that he designed and built is where he and Michelle entertained guests. It is the crown jewel of their home. He designed and built a sturdy version of the washer board game, which he proudly replicated for family and friends for their summer enjoyment. Above all, Steve’s deep faith, fierce love of family, and a uniquely wonderful sense of humor will be his legacy. He will be sadly and dearly missed by all. Steve leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 30 years, Michelle Seitz of Waterford; son, Corey Seitz of Waterford; mother Joan Seitz of Mount Pleasant; siblings, Gary (Ann) Seitz of Racine; Susan Seitz, Tom (Terri) Seitz, Sheri (David) Edwards all of Mount Pleasant; Vicki (Richard) Alheid of Williams Bay, Amy (Scott) Lund of Franklin; brothers in law, Jeff Lutkus of Mount Pleasant, and Scott (Ann) Lutkus of Kansasville; two of his very special friends, Steve Czerniejewski and Greg Nyboe, along with nieces, nephews and many other friends, too numerous to mention. Steve was preceded in death by his father Donald Seitz, father-in-law Clemons Lutkus and mother-in-law Carol Lutkus. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00 pm at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (www.theaftd.org). The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the staff at Autumn Leaves (Gurnee and Franklin), and to the staff at Heartland Hospice for the care given to Steve throughout this difficult time.
